The Vatican Observatory Foundation presents the first-ever App from any division of the Vatican.

About The Vatican Observatory

Almost four centuries ago, the Vatican established the Vatican Observatory (Specola Vaticana) as a historical research and educational institution supported by the Holy See, with an emphasis on scientific research and discovery. Originally based in the Tower of the Winds within the Vatican in Rome, the Vatican Observatory is now headquartered at the summer residence of the Pope and a nearby convent in Castel Gandolfo, Italy. Here, at one of the principal sites of the Vatican, a short distance from Vatican City, is one of the oldest research institutions in the world, a place where grandeur combines with faith and tradition to create a center of discovery. The Vatican Observatory Foundation was established to provide financial support for of the Vatican Observatory's mission of discovery: cutting-edge scientific research and education conducted by the Vatican Observatory and maintenance of the Vatican Observatory's state-of-the-art telescope facilities.
